Amy is an historian and heritage consultant who specialises in built heritage and material cultures. She is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of the Sunshine Coast, as well as the Bachelor of Arts Program Coordinator and History Discipline Leader. Amy’s research areas include Australian and Scottish history and heritage, British and British colonial history, heritage diplomacy, national and regional cultural identity politics, Big Things and roadside attractions, open air museums and theme parks, and souvenirs.
Amy is the Deputy Editor of Historic Environment (the journal of Australia ICOMOS), serves on the Board of Sunshine Coast Open House , the Board of the journal Australian Planner  (the journal of the Planning Institute of Australia), and is an elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries Scotland and a Full International Member of ICOMOS. She appears regularly on Australian radio and television as a cultural history and heritage commentator.
